Students who damage a book will be expected to pay a minimum of a $5 fine unless the book was new during the current school year, then the student will be expected to pay the full replacement value.

Refunds
If a student pays a lost book fine and the book is returned to the media center, a refund will be issued. Parents should stop by the media center after receiving a refund notice to pick up a refund check.
Media Center Hours:
- The Media Center is open from 7:15 until 2:00. In the mornings, students must go to their classrooms before coming to the Media Center. Students may also check out books in the afternoon from 1:15 until 2:00. Students must have a pass from their teacher to come to the media center and should bring their library card to check out books.
Schedule:
- Each S. L. Lewis class visits the media center every other week for approximately 45-minutes. Class visits to the media center normally consist of a 30-minute lesson and 15-minutes for check-out. Students are also allowed to visit the media center in the morning and the afternoon after lunch (with teacher permission) for additional check-out time.
Student Check-Out:
- Students in Kindergarten - 2nd grade may check out 1 book at a time.
- Students in grades 3-5 may check out 2 books at a time.
- If a student is working on a project or presentation, he or she may check out an additional book that pertains to the research topic.
- If students cannot checkout a paper-based book, they are encouraged to read ebooks via Mackinvia.
Overdue Books:
- All materials circulate for 14 days
- We do not charge fines for overdue books
- If an item is not returned by its due date, students checkout privileges are suspended until the book is returned or lost book fees are paid
- Overdue notices are provided to the classroom teacher during media sessions once per month

- Water or other liquid anywhere on the book (be careful of water bottles in backpacks!)
- Ripped/torn/chewed cover or pages
- Food/stains
